With unemployment continuing to rise in the UK at present and many sectors such as finance, retail and manufacturing struggling, job hunters may be looking at what areas are actually experiencing growth and taking on new recruitments at present. One such area could be the debt solutions industry, as demand for these types of services is outstripping supply at the moment as millions of consumers struggle to pay record levels of debt built up over the last 10 years or so. So, what debt management jobs are there for the taking and what are the duties involved?
Jobs at debt solutions firms will include administration, customer service, telephone canvassers and debt advisers through to supervisors, senior administrators, managers and senior managers. Debt advice companies, when advertising debt management jobs, will be looking for office or call centre environment experience as a pre-requisite, with supervisory or management experience needed for more senior roles. Anyone with a sales background would be a prime target for most debt solutions providers and anyone with financial services experience would also find the transition straightforward. Therefore anyone that has ever been involved with a mortgage brokerage, financial advisers company, solicitor or accountant firm, or a claims management company would be highly sought after by any company advertising debt management jobs.
Administration jobs with a debt advice firm will consist of keeping client accounts updated, sorting and filing relevant paperwork, ensuring cases are running smoothly, answering telephones to new and existing customers and general day to day office duties. Customer service would involve much the same with more focus on client care and customer satisfaction. Supervisory positions for either role would ensure the smooth running of the customer service and administration departments.
Debt advisers would probably need at least two to three weeks training, depending upon previous experience, in order to fully comprehend all of the company’s products and services, and to learn about industry compliance and how to decide on the best debt solutions to offer clients.
